Session concerning prevention of offences took place at Operative Headquarters of Ministry of Interior of Russia

 Today, an extraordinary session concerning prevention of offences took place at the Ministry of Interior of Russia under the guidance of the First Deputy Minister of Interior of the Russian Federation colonel general of militia Mikhail Sukhodolsky.

Besides members of the Operative Headquarters, heads of departments, services and units of the Ministry of Interior of Russia, law enforcement bodies of constituents of the Russian Federation took part in the event which took place via videoconference facilities.

During the session issues of additional measures to strengthen the protection of objects of special importance, particularly dangerous objects and elements of vital infrastructure as well as about maintenance of the public order during public events were considered.

The session started with the discussion of the situation in Astrakhan region. On July 27 and 28 two attacks against militia employees who were engaged in maintenance of the public order were committed in the city. Mikhail Sukhodolskiy declared that disclosing these grave crimes was a point of honor for the Astrakhan militia and the Ministry of Interior as a whole.

Today, there are over 56,000 objects of special importance, particularly dangerous objects and elements of vital infrastructure in the Russian Federation. Private security service units provide safety at more than 36,000 objects.

Addressing heads of law enforcement bodies of constituents of the Russian Federation, the First Deputy Minister demanded they take all measures to maintain the safety of strategic objects. First of all they should be properly inspected. Besides, Mikhail Sukhodolskiy instructed to strengthen militia patrols and to provide employees engaged in protection of fuel and energy facilities with the necessary technical equipment: detectors of explosives and radioactivity, with protective containers, stationary and portable metal detectors.

Also, the issue of safeguarding the public order during events expected on July 31 was considered at the session. According to the information available, some of them can take place in a wildcat way. In this respect the Ministry of Interior of Russia warns that the disturbers will be held and delivered to law enforcement bodies. At occurrence of disorders the law enforcement bodies are recommended to operate within the law as the developing situation dictates.
