Voronezh militia receives modern helicopter

The militia of Voronezh have received a reliable assistant, a helicopter Ka-226. On June 22 it rolled off the production line of the aviation enterprise in Kumertau in Bashkortostan.

Ka-226 is one of the most advanced helicopters in Russia. It is equipped with a whole set of technical facilities which make it possible to perform video- and photo shooting at any time and under any weather conditions with a 22x optical zoom and an option to send the received data to a mobile management point located up to 50 kilometers away.

All 14 employees of the special mission aviation group of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate in Voronezh region who will pilot the helicopter are real professionals who possess extensive combat experience of performing business trips to Afghanistan and the Chechen Republic. The commander of the group lieutenant colonel of internal service Vyacheslav Sveshnikov has the highest flight qualification. His working experience as a pilot exceeds 33 years. And recently all members of the crews accomplished a retraining course at the special mission aviation group of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of Moscow.

On July 2, training flights took at the air field of the special mission aviation group. The head of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate in Voronezh region lieutenant general of militia Oleg Khotin was in attendance. He personally tested the new aircraft ascending as a passenger.

"There is a reason for the aviation group to be called a special mission group. The helicopter will be applied only in most urgent situations," he said. "One of principal applications of the helicopter is transporting forces and means of law enforcement bodies to crime spots by air. It will help us perform air reconnaissance operations, search operations and special missions such as pursuing thieves of motor vehicles. Also, the helicopter provides opportunities for the air supervision of mass pubic events.

Besides, the helicopter is equipped with a unique thermal imagery device. It reacts to slightest changes of the human body's temperature while being several dozens of meters of the ground surface. In other words, the helicopter can determine the shelter of a criminal who flees to a forest belt, for example.

Besides, it is the only helicopter in Voronezh for today which is allowed to fly not just over the water area, but also over the city.

Employees of the aviation group will start performing their duties in a month. Until then they will be engaged in aircraft flying training.
